126 Nepali Students Return Home from KIIT Amid Safety Concerns

A total of 126 Nepali students studying at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, have returned home via the Raxaul border, citing safety concerns following the death of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal.
According to Nishan Raj Gautam, Officiating Chief District Officer of Parsa, 103 male and 23 female students arrived in Nepal on Wednesday. The returning students alleged that the KIIT administration subjected them to threats and mental harassment, prompting their decision to leave.
Meanwhile, the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) staged a demonstration in Birgunj, marching from the Consulate General of India to Ghantaghar Chowk, demanding justice for Lamsal.
The incident has raised concerns among Nepali students and authorities, with calls for a thorough investigation into Lamsal’s death and assurances of student safety.
