13th Nepal-Africa Film Festival Set for January 2025 in Kathmandu

The 13th Nepal-Africa Film Festival is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu in the third week of January 2025, organizers announced. The event, hosted by the College of Journalism and Mass Communication (CJMC) and Bilakshan Creation, aims to strengthen cultural ties and foster understanding between Nepal and Africa through cinema.

Festival Director Dabbu Chhetri revealed that applications are now open for filmmakers interested in participating in the event. “The festival is dedicated to promoting cultural exchange and deepening our understanding of Africa. This year, we have expanded the scope to include international films alongside Nepali and African entries,” Chhetri said.

The festival will feature a variety of films, including Nepali feature films, short films, and documentaries, along with entries from African and other international filmmakers under a newly introduced ‘international category.’

The deadline for film registration is December 31, 2024. Besides screenings, the festival will include workshops, discussions on Nepali cinema, and other engaging side events.

By expanding its focus to a global platform, the Nepal-Africa Film Festival seeks to create a unique blend of cinematic experiences, offering audiences a diverse and enriching cultural exchange.
