14th Nepal Festival Kicks Off in Tokyo, Showcasing Nepali Culture and Tourism
The 14th Nepal Festival began today at Nakano Shikinomori Park in Tokyo, Japan, under the theme, “Identity of Nepal and Nepalis in Japan, Promotion of Tourism in Nepal through 14th Nepal Festival.”
The two-day event, jointly organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Japan, the Embassy of Nepal in Tokyo, and the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Japan, aims to promote Nepal’s rich art and culture internationally while fostering a sense of belonging among Nepalis in the diaspora.
This year’s festival also highlights a fundraising initiative for the construction of a multicultural center, Nepali House, envisioned as a symbol of Nepal’s identity in Japan. NRNA Japan President and Festival Coordinator Nabin Niure stated that the event features fundraising campaigns, cultural showcases, and culinary delights, along with ethnic costume displays and performances by Nepali artists.
The festival hosts 40 stalls, offering a variety of cultural exhibits and Nepali cuisine, alongside documentaries and photo exhibitions that celebrate Nepal’s unique traditions, customs, and tourist destinations.
NRNA Japan Spokesperson Khagaraj Gautam emphasized that the annual festival, which has been held since 2012, serves as a bridge to strengthen solidarity among Nepalis in Japan while enhancing Nepal’s global profile as a cultural and tourism hub.
The event is expected to draw significant attention, promoting Nepal’s heritage and tourism potential among locals and the international community in Japan.
