33 Road Accidents Reported in Humla District Over Three Years; Seven Fatalities Recorded
A total of 33 road accidents have occurred in various parts of the district over the past three years, resulting in the loss of seven lives, according to the District Police Office, Humla.
Road defects have been cited as the primary cause of most of these accidents. Police Inspector Narendra Chand provided a breakdown of the incidents across the three fiscal years.
In the fiscal year 2078/79 BS, six road accidents were recorded, claiming the life of a child. The following year, 2079/80 BS, saw an increase in accidents, with 10 incidents resulting in two fatalities and 24 injuries, though none of the injuries were reported as serious.
The last fiscal year, 2080/81 BS, witnessed the highest number of road accidents, with 18 incidents reported. These accidents resulted in five fatalities and 35 injuries, marking it as the year with the most accidents and the highest number of casualties.
Inspector Chand highlighted the need for addressing road defects to prevent further accidents and reduce the number of casualties in the district.
