53 Films from 23 Countries Featured in Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival

Fifty-three films from 23 countries have been selected for screening in the 12th Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival which kicked off here today.

Pandav Khatri, President of the Human Rights International Film Centre and Festival Director, highlighted the significance of the event. “This Festival has been a consistent platform to promote and screen films addressing human rights issues. This year, we are proud to feature internationally acclaimed films,” he said.

Highlights of the Festival include notable titles such as All We Imagine as Light, The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, The Outrun, and Anaar Daana, which have been recognized at prestigious events like the Cannes and Berlin Film Festivals.

Film industry professionals from Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India are participating in the event, which is being held at the Film Development Board’s meeting hall and the Nepal Tourism Board auditorium.

Various side events as seminars and interaction would also be organized as part of the festival, advocating for human rights. The theme of the festival is ‘Social Justice’, said Khatri.

The Human Rights International Film Centre, established in 2009, has been hosting the festival annually to foster awareness and advocacy for human rights through the medium of cinema.
