8th Edition of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament inaugurated

The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu held an inaugural ceremony of, ‘the 8th Edition of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament-2023, today.

CP Mainali, former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal, inaugurated the event as chief guest, and Bina Raj Pandey, former President of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), graced the event as chief guest, according to the press released by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu.

Addressing the ceremony, Mainali appreciated the Embassy’s initiative for successfully organizing the event every year. He highlighted the potential of cricket and sports in bringing the youth of two countries together, read the press brief.

Pandey lauded the efforts of Pakistan Embassy for organizing such events, which not only strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries but also serve as an opportunity to enhance sports activities amongst youngsters.

Charge d` Affaires (a.i.), Umair Ali highlighted the importance of sports and outdoor activities. He said that cricket is not just a sport, it also serves as a platform to bring people together and fosters a spirit of camaraderie and teamwork.

He further stated that this event would contribute to further deepening the friendly ties between the two countries. Mr. Ali thanked the distinguished guests and the Nepalese government for their support in organizing the event.

This year twelve cricket teams are participating in the nine-day event. The Tournament is scheduled to conclude on 18th March 2023. The event will be streamed live on Nethe palese channel “Action Sports”.
