Nepali Congress decided to nominate its senior leader Paudel for post of President
The Nepali Congress has decided to nominate its senior leader Ramchandra Paudel as the candidate for the post of the next president of the country. The election for the Head of State is taking place on March 9.
The meeting of the NC Central Executive Committee held this morning at the party’s central office, Sanepa unanimously decided to nominate Paudel as the presidential candidate, said the party’s vice president Dhanraj Gurung.
It may be noted that a joint meeting of Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajwadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Nagarik Unmukti Party on Friday decided to support the Congress’ candidate in the election for the new Head of State of the country.
Nominations for the candidates contesting for the post are being registered today from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The vote for the post of the President will be held on March 9.
Poudel is a former speaker and is currently serving his 6th term as a lawmaker in the House of Representatives.
