No permission granted to open Buddhist University in Mustang : Prime Minister

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has said that the government has not given permission to open a Buddhist university in Mustang.

Prime Minister Dahal’s reply came after when UML Chair KP Oli was accusing the government of treason against China by allowing India to open a Buddhist university in Mustang.

Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu on Tuesday, he clarified that since so long the local level has been talking about opening a college in Mustang rather than a university. Without naming UML Chair Oli, Prime Minister Dahal said that he was not in favor of accusing anyone of the discussion.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Dahal said that if the precious minerals in Mustang can be properly utilized, radical changes can be brought about in the country’s economic situation.

The former prime minister Oli on Saturday had fiercely criticised the government for “harming relations with China” by planning to establish a Buddhist University, with Indian aid.

“In order to turn the country into a playground for foreigners, the government is allowing India to open a Buddhist college in Mustang,” Oli said. “This plan is an attack on the country’s sovereignty.”
