United Nations Military Peacekeeping Intelligence Course commenced

The United Nations Military Peacekeeping Intelligence (MPKI) Course commenced at the Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre (BPOTC) on 13 March 2023.

A total of 19 national and 6 International Officers from Indonesia, Mongolia, Srilanka, and Vietnam are participating in this two-week long course (13 March to 24 March 2023).

The course is planned and conducted in coordination with the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI). There is a total of four Subject Matter Experts from GPOI and the Nepali Army and the team is led by Mr. Jullian Bower.

During the opening address, Commandant BPOTC emphasized the need for peacekeeping intelligence for a better understanding of the increasingly complex UN operation environment with a view to providing decision support by predicting specific threats to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel. He also stressed the need for an efficient peacekeeping intelligence capability for UN field missions to provide objective assessments of situations and anticipate likely future situations.
