Bagmati Province CM Jamarkattel passes second floor test

Bagmati Province Chief Minister Shalikram Jamarkattel on Friday, March 24, passed the second parliamentary floor test.

67 MPs of the 110-member Provincial Assembly gave a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Jamarkattel.

17 votes were cast against the vote of confidence while 7 MPs did not participate in today’s vote of confidence.

The Chief Minister had to garner the support of at least 56 MPs to show that he has the confidence of the Provincial Assembly.

Jamkattel, leader of CPN (Maoist Center) was appointed Chief Minister with the support of 105 MPs from 6 parties, including Nepali Congress (NC) , UML, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on January 9.

Earlier, Chief Minister Jamakattel had received support from 105 members.

As the RPP and UML deciding to withdraw their support to the Jammakattel-led government, he had to seek the vote of confidence as per the Article 188 (2) of the Constitution.
