Mayor Balen challenges the federal government
Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balen Shah has asked the government either to work in favor of Kathmandu or move the Singha Durbar elsewhere.
Balen resorted to Facebook to challenge the federal government to shift its seat if it does not want to cooperate with the local government.
“Either work for the benefit of Kathmandu or shift Singhadarbar elsewhere,” he wrote, “Kathmanduites don’t object to your decision even if you shift the capital city.”
Mayor Shah said the people of Kathmandu need heritage, culture, art, and civilization, not politics.
Shah’s recent move is said to be an act of revenge as he is not getting support from the federal government to evict landless squatters from the public land in the city.
After Mayor Shah instructed not to collect the garbage from Singha Durbar, President’s Office, and Prime Minister’s residence, the garbage has not been collected from these places since Saturday.
