Rabi Lamichhane accused of violating poll code, complaint filed

A complaint has been lodged with the Office of Chief Returning Officer in Chitwan-2, alleging that Rabi Lamichhane, the President and candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party, has violated the election code of conduct.

On Sunday, during the by-elections, Dhruva Raj Pokharel, representing the Nepali Congress candidate Jit Narayan Shrestha, lodged a complaint seeking the cancellation of Lamichhane’s candidacy on the grounds of violating the poll code.

Voting was halted for a duration of two hours at Nayakiran Secondary School’s voting center due to a conflict over a breach of the code of conduct. At the same center, a meeting was held with representatives from all political parties, during which the Swatantra Party’s representatives acknowledged the violation of the code of conduct.

Among the candidates in the election are Lamichhane, who is competing against Jit Narayan Shrestha from the Nepali Congress and Ram Prasad Neupane, the district chapter chair of the UML.
