Three killed, five injured when truck crashes into house

Three people were killed, while five others sustained injuries when a tuck went out of control at Adhikhola, Bandipur Rural Municipality-5, Yampa, Tanahun, under Prithvi Highway and collided on two houses.

According to District Police Office, Tanahun, the truck went out of control and rammed at houses at 9:20 AM on Wednesday. The accident occurred when a truck with a registration number (Na 4 Kha 1973) moving towards Mugling from Dumre went out of control and struck the roadside home of Sunmaya Bhujel and San Bahadur Bhujel.

“Three of the eight people who were injured got killed in the accident. Pedestrians and three people living in the same house were killed in the accident” said Mohan Bahadur Khand, Deputy Superintendent of Police at District Police Office, Tanahun.

DSP Khand said that the injured people were immediately taken to Orthopaedic Anbu Khaireni Hospital, Tanahun for primary treatment, and were sent to Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital, Bharatpur, for further treatment.

He said, “Ayyush Bhujel, aged 12, Ayusha Bhujel, aged six, Chet Bahadur Gharti-aged 50, San Bhahdur Bhujel, aged 55, are permanent residents of Bandipur Rural Municipality-1, and currently living at Bandipur Rural Municipality-5, were killed at the accident.” “Likewise, Jasmin Bhujel, aged 10, Ishwor Bhujel, aged 10, Samir Bhujel, aged eight, and Santosh Bhujel, aged five, of the same place, got injured in the accident.”

He said that after the accident, the traffic on the Dumre- Anbu Khaireni section of the Prithviraj Highway has been blocked. There have been protests from locals and relatives of the injured demanding action against the culprits.

Attempts are being made to open the blocked highway.
