NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba visits Baluwatar amidst ongoing scandal

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba visited Baluwatar on Thursday morning to hold talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. The meeting came in the aftermath of the arrest of NC leader and former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand in connection with the case of fake Bhutanese refugees.

Insiders say that Deuba is under pressure as his wife Arzu Rana’s name has also been linked to the scam. The Prime Minister’s Secretariat has confirmed that the two leaders discussed current political developments, including the issue of fake Bhutanese refugees.

The case of fake Bhutanese refugees has become increasingly complicated as more high-profile individuals are being implicated in the scandal of extorting money from Nepalese citizens to send them to America as Bhutanese refugees.

CPN-UML leader Subash Chandra Nemwang also visited Baluwatar to meet with PM Dahal, although it is not clear what was discussed during their meeting.
