Fake Bhutanese refugee case: Student leaders warn of powerful protest if government evades culprits

Student leaders have issued a strong warning to the government, stating that if they attempt to escape the culprits in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees, they will face a powerful protest. The announcement came during a program organized by Sambad Dabali on Thursday, where several student leaders shared their views on corruption and the role of the government in holding the guilty accountable.

Samik Badal, Chairperson of the ANNFSU, which is affiliated with the opposition party CPN (UML), emphasized that the government must take action against anyone found guilty in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees. Badal also emphasized that all corruption case files should be opened, not just this one.

Pancha Singh, Chairperson of the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary), which is close to the ruling CPN (Maoist Centre), expressed pride in the steps taken by the current government against corruption. She noted that the government has broken the precedent of using corruption cases as political bargaining chips.

Sudesh Parajuli, Chairperson of the All Nepal National Independent Student Union, which is affiliated with CPN (Unified Socialist), also praised the government for taking a bold step and urged them to move forward without being influenced by personal interests or pressure.

Hari Krishna Gajurel, Chairperson of Akhil Revolutionary, emphasized that the government must not back down in the current fake Bhutan case, even if they face pressure.
