Former Home Minister Khand granted 4-day detention extension
The district court in Kathmandu has granted permission to detain twelve individuals, including former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand, for an additional four days. The individuals have been accused of involvement in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees. The police had requested an extension on Sunday after bringing the accused before the court.
To date, a total of twelve individuals have been arrested in connection with this case. Those arrested include Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, his aide Narendra KC, UML leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi’s son Sandeep, Secretary Teknarayan Pandey, the security advisor of the then-Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal,’ and Indrajit Rai.
Additionally, Sanu Bhandari of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality-23, Keshav Prasad Dulal of Patharishanishare Municipality-10 of Morang, Tanka Kumar Gurung of Phidim Municipality-7 of Paanchthar, Sandesh Sharma of Dang, former ward Chair of Pathari Shanishare Municipality-10 of Morang Sagar Rai, Ramsharan KC of Tokha in Kathmandu, and Gobinda Chaudhary of Morang have also been taken into custody.
