HoR Adjourns Meeting Amidst Growing Opposition to Citizenship Bill, Reschedules for Monday

The meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned until Monday amidst growing opposition to the authenticated Citizenship Bill. The decision to adjourn the meeting was made after an initial one-hour postponement on Sunday, which was followed by no further proceedings.

The Parliament Secretariat has informed that the rescheduled meeting will take place on Monday at 11 am, urging all members to mark their calendars accordingly.

However, the opposition parties, namely CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, have jointly expressed their strong dissent against the recently authenticated Citizenship Bill. They argue that the authentication process for the Bill was flawed and erroneous.

Notably, President Ramchandra Paudel approved the Bill, which had remained unverified during the tenure of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari, on May 31.
