Election Commission Calls Major Political Parties for Crucial Discussion

The Election Commission (EC) has summoned major political parties for a crucial discussion. Shaligram Sharma Paudel, the EC’s spokesperson and Joint Secretary, announced that a meeting has been scheduled with the participation of political parties at 11:30 am on Friday.

During the budget speech delivered by Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, a decision was made to abolish all electoral offices. In response to this announcement, the EC promptly issued a press release expressing concern over the potential risks associated with abolishing the existing structures.

The Commission emphasized that such a decision could undermine the independence, autonomy, and integrity of this constitutional body.

Furthermore, the EC engaged in discussions on this matter with Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha. Home Minister Shrestha assured that he would consult with Finance Minister Mahat and make the necessary decisions accordingly.
