No Fertilizer Shortage: Agriculture Ministry Commits to Ample Supply for Paddy Season

The Ministry of Agriculture has reassured that there will be no shortage of chemical fertilizer during the upcoming paddy planting season.

Prakash Kumar Sanjel, spokesperson for the Ministry, confirmed that measures were already underway to import additional tons of fertilizer, in addition to the 73 thousand metric tons already in storage, thus ensuring a sufficient supply.

“We currently have 73 thousand metric tons of chemical fertilizer in our store, and an additional 100 thousand metric tons will be procured within a month, as the procurement process has already been initiated. Therefore, farmers will not face any shortages this season,” Sanjel stated.

Historical data indicates that approximately 150 thousand metric tons of chemical fertilizer are required for the paddy plantation season.

With the monsoon season expected to begin shortly and farmers preparing for planting paddy, concerns regarding fertilizer shortages have emerged, stemming from past experiences.
