Nepal, UAE renew labour pact; UAE willing to take domestic workers
The government and the United Arab Emirates have renewed the bilateral labour agreement.
The third meeting of the joint committee formed as per the bilateral agreement reached on June 14, 2019 has renewed the labour pact.
In the meeting organized by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, the UAE official Abdulla Alnuimi showed interest in taking domestic workers from Nepal.
The Nepal government had proposed a guarantee of minimum salary to Nepali workers in UAE, easier process to bring back bodies of deceased Nepali workers, and easier collection of details on Nepali workers who are in jail.
Joint Secretary Rajib Pokharel, who led Nepali taskforce in the committee, shared about the recent laws formulated in Nepal relating to labour and foreign employment.
