PM Prachanda off to inspect flood, landslide-hit districts
A team comprising high ranking officials led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has set out to inspect the flood and landslide-hit districts in the eastern Nepal.
PM Dahal is off to inspect the flood-hit areas on a helicopter of the Nepal Army, said the PM’s personal secretary Ramesh Malla.
The head of the government is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala and Minister for Urban Development Sita Gurung.
Likewise, the inspecting team includes lawmakers Yogesh Bhattarai, Basanta Nembang, and Dipak Khadka, member of the Koshi Province Assembly Rajendra Karki, Chief of the Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma, an engineer at the Ministry of Home and an official at the Office of Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, rescue efforts are underway in the incident sites. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure has sent equipment to reconstruct a Bailey bridge to reconnect Panchthar and Taplejung district with the road network, he said.
