Proposals to cut expenditures belonging to Vice President’s Office tabled in House

Proposals to cut expenditures belonging to the Office of Vice President have been tabled in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives. Parliamentarians Dr Amaresh Kumar Singh, Bhagawati Chaudhary and Prem Suwal presented the proposals.

In the meeting, deliberations are scheduled on various subjects relating to the Office of Vice President, as part of discussions on various subjects of the Appropriation Bill, 2080. As per the schedule, Singh and Chaudhary tabled the proposals demanding the reduction of expenditures belonging to the Office of Vice President. Similarly, Suwal called for significantly reducing expenditures belonging to the Office of Vice President.

People’s faith in the Offices of President and Vice President is decreasing due to ‘extravagant spending’ by these institutions, they argued.

In the meeting, Singh said facilities and expenses done by the Office of Vice President including that in vehicles and fuels should be cut, and the budget saved from this should be spent on health and education. Services and facilities given to the Vice President are enough, he viewed.

In another context, Suwal was of the view that the President and Vice President should not endorse any bills that have reached them by avoiding the House procedures.
