Hygiene is a matter of serious concern, Deputy Prime Minister says
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha has stated that cleanliness and hygiene was a matter of serious concern for all.
Addressing the concluding session of a 10-day training on basic hygiene on Tuesday, Shrestha said cleanliness is a vital part of human life and everyone should learn this.
He also asked to do away with the perception that the cleaning is a petty job. “This is a wrong perception,” Shrestha said adding that the Nepali society has a wrong impression to look at the cleaning professionals.
Saying that he wished to attend the training on cleanliness at the ministry, the Deputy Prime Minister regretted that he could not join the sessions citing his busy schedule.
On the occasion, Shrestha suggested that every individual should do some physical labour and asked the participants to engage their children in some sorts of labor.
Likewise, he said that the incumbent government has drafted the policy on cleanliness by incorporating the campaign of Clean Nepali, Healthy Nepali.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s public health and sanitation expert Khem Sharma and other speakers also shared their views at the event.
During the session, PM Prachanda’s message on hygiene was read out.
