Prime Minister Initiates Talks to Resolve Parliamentary Obstruction

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has engaged in discussions with KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of the chief opposition party CPN-UML, in an effort to address the ongoing obstruction of the House. The Chairman of the ruling partner Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, is also participating in the discussions, currently taking place at the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers. The primary focus of these discussions is to find a solution to open the obstruction of the House.

The obstruction of both houses of the Federal Parliament by the UML began after Prachanda, who also serves as the Chairman of the Maoist Center, publicly stated that Sardar Pritam Singh had made several trips to Delhi to position himself as the Prime Minister. These accusations prompted the UML to initiate the parliamentary blockade. Amid criticisms directed towards the Prime Minister for not taking necessary steps to resolve the issue, Prachanda has now commenced discussions with the key leaders involved.

However, given the UML’s insistence on the Prime Minister’s resignation, the likelihood of a breakthrough arising from today’s discussions appears slim. CPN-UML chief whip Padam Giri has affirmed that the protest will continue during today’s parliamentary session as well.

The ongoing talks between Prime Minister Prachanda, Chairman Oli, and Nepali Congress leader Deuba are expected to shed light on potential avenues for resolving the parliamentary obstruction and finding a mutually agreeable path forward for the nation.
