Kantipur TV HD Stops Production and Broadcast of ‘What the Flop’
Kantipur TV HD has decided to halt the production and broadcast of the popular program ‘What the Flop’. The television network issued a notice on Thursday, stating that the decision was taken in consideration of women’s self-respect and to promote awareness within society.
The controversy surrounding the show escalated after an episode featuring an interview with actor Paul Shah, conducted by host Sandeep Chhetri, aired on Saturday, July 8. The episode sparked widespread criticism on social media for its inappropriate and offensive jokes targeting women.
In response to the mounting criticism, Kantipur TV took swift action and removed the controversial episode from the program. However, it seems that this was not enough to quell the outrage, leading the network to make the decision to suspend the show altogether.
In the official notification released on Thursday, Kantipur Television announced its plan to replace ‘What the Flop’ with a new and promising program, aiming to offer content that respects and upholds the values of the society.
Host Sandeep Chhetri, who is also a prominent actor, has been at the center of multiple controversies related to the show in the past. The program faced significant protests previously for making derogatory remarks about the Madhesi community.
