Hospital tense after patient dies during treatment
The Bharatpur-based College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (Old Medical College) turned tense after a woman patient died during treatment.
Relatives of the deceased picketed the hospital after Sharmeela Hatwal Uprety, 32, of Khairahani municipality-10, Badgaun in Chitwan died while undergoing treatment.
Blaming the hospital’s negligence for the demise of Uprety, the relatives resorted to gherao the hospital.
A large number of police personnel has been mobilized at the hospital after the hospital turned tense.
Brother-in-law of the deceased, Namaraj Uprety shared that Sharmeela was admitted at the hospital on July 25 after she complained of fever and urine related complications.
He accused the doctors of prescribing high doses of medicines and ignoring the patient in trouble.
‘A patient with minor fever has lost her life due to carelessness on part of the hospital’, he said.
Sharmeela died on Thursday evening. The relatives rejected hospital’s proposal to accept the dead body.
A dialogue between the hospital administration and relatives was underway today. There is a huge presence of the relatives of the deceased at the hospital’s premises.
Sharmeela was survived by her spouse and two daughters with ten and six years of age. The hospital administration did not make any response while inquiring about the incident.
