House Meeting Delayed Until Tomorrow

The scheduled meeting of the House of Representatives, initially set to convene at 1 pm today, has been postponed until 1 pm tomorrow. The decision was announced by the Parliament Secretariat, which cited a special reason for the postponement.

According to reliable sources, the postponement came after the main opposition party, CPN-UML, declared its intention to obstruct today’s meeting. The CPN-UML had planned to seek answers from Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha regarding a crucial gold smuggling case that has been making headlines.

The one quantal gold smuggling case has become a matter of intense public interest, and the CPN-UML has been persistent in demanding accountability from the Home Minister during the parliamentary session. However, in response to the opposition’s concerns, the government requested the Speaker of the House, Devraj Ghimire, to postpone the meeting.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli engaged in talks with the aim of resolving the obstruction in the House. However, the discussions did not yield a satisfactory resolution, as the UML expressed disappointment over the Prime Minister’s lack of a clear response regarding the gold smuggling case.
