Ex-Indian Gurkha Army Veterans from Chitwan District Honored with ‘Senior Warrior Award’
In a heartfelt ceremony, fifty-one distinguished veterans of the Ex-Indian Gurkha Army from Chitwan district were recognized and bestowed with the prestigious ‘Senior Warrior Award.’ The event was jointly organized by the Consulate General of India in Birgunj and the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Club, held on a memorable Saturday.
The honorees included 51 Ex-Indian Gurkha Army veterans who are above 80 years of age, each of whom was celebrated for their unwavering dedication and exemplary service during their time in the Indian Gurkha Army.
On this auspicious occasion, former General Dr. Prem Singh Bansyat emphasized the importance of mutual respect between Nepal and India in recognizing the valuable contributions made by the Ex-Indian Gurkha Army. He praised the veterans for not only their remarkable military service but also for acting as a bridge to foster and maintain friendly relations between the two nations.
Consul General of the Consulate General of India in Birgunj, Nitesh Kumar, reaffirmed the Indian government’s commitment to continuously honoring the Ex-Indian Gurkha Army for their invaluable contributions. This marked the first time such a program was organized by the Consulate General in Birgunj, and it was announced that such events would be continued in the future as well, demonstrating the lasting appreciation and gratitude towards these brave veterans.
