Top Leaders Meeting Underway at Singhadurbar to Break Parliamentary Deadlock
The meeting of the top leaders of Nepal’s three major political parties is currently underway at the Office of the Speaker located at Singhadurbar. The meeting, called upon by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, aims to tackle the ongoing parliamentary deadlock that has brought legislative proceedings to a standstill.
The meeting, which commenced , has brought Prime Minister and Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the President of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, and the leader of the main opposition party and Chairperson of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, are all present and engaged in discussions. Also participating in the deliberations are the chief whips and whips from the respective parties.
Speaker Ghimire, known for his diplomatic acumen, is leading the discussions as he endeavors to mediate between the ruling and opposition parties. The focus of the meeting is centered around breaking the deadlock that emerged due to disagreements over the formation of a high-level probe committee to investigate the alleged smuggling of gold through the Tribhuvan International Airport.
As the discussions continue behind closed doors, hopes remain that the leaders’ collective efforts will yield a breakthrough, enabling the resumption of parliamentary activities and the progression of crucial legislative matters.
