UML’s Obstruction Halts NA Session

The National Assembly (NA) meeting on Monday faced a disruption as CPN-UML lawmakers obstructed proceedings, demanding the establishment of a high-level investigation committee to delve into the one-quintal gold smuggling case.

Dil Kumari Rawal, a UML lawmaker, firmly stated that the ongoing government investigation may fall short of unearthing the primary culprits unless a high-level committee is constituted. Citing past instances of corruption inquiries, Rawal expressed apprehensions that the government’s efforts could potentially be a ploy to mislead the public.

Ganesh Timalsina, Chairman of the National Assembly, utilized the platform to call upon top leaders to address the matter promptly and reach a viable solution.

Despite repeated calls for cooperation, the UML’s persistent obstruction forced the meeting to be adjourned until Wednesday. The dispute continues to highlight the growing tension surrounding the investigation into the high-profile gold smuggling case.
