Inauguration of School’s New Building in Nepal: A Testament to India’s Educational Assistance
On the momentous occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day, the newly constructed school building of Shree Bishnudevi Secondary School in Chandragiri, Kathmandu, Nepal was ceremoniously inaugurated. This noteworthy event took place in collaboration with Mr. Karun Bansal, First Secretary of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu; Mr. Ghanshyam Luitel, Ward Chairperson of Chandragiri Municipality; Mr. Indra Bahadur Subedi, Chairperson of the School Management Committee; and Mr. Dilliram Luitel, Project Director of the Central Level Project Implementation Unit (CLPIU) under the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology. Distinguished representatives from Chandragiri Municipality, various Ministries and departments of the Government of Nepal, as well as the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee, graced the auspicious occasion.
The reconstruction of the school building, undertaken with unwavering commitment, adheres to the robust earthquake-resilient reconstruction standards set forth by the Government of Nepal. The project has been realized at a cost of NRs. 69 million. The newly inaugurated edifice encompasses two blocks, featuring an impressive array of 13 classrooms, administrative rooms, a library, a multipurpose hall, and practical/lab rooms. Designed with a keen focus on seismic resistance, the infrastructure is attuned to accommodate the diverse needs of children, gender inclusivity, and persons with disabilities. It is poised to provide an enriching learning environment for over 500 students, fostering a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.
Shree Bishnudevi Secondary School forms an integral part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing Nepal’s educational landscape. A total of 71 educational institutions are being established across eight districts of Nepal, made possible through the generous post-earthquake reconstruction grant of US $50 million extended by the Government of India. Remarkably, construction has already been completed for 65 schools, while the remaining six are nearing completion.
These transformative projects underscore the unwavering commitment of India to its development partnership with Nepal. They seamlessly complement the concerted endeavors of the Government of Nepal in advancing educational infrastructure across the nation.
