KMC Plan to Connect Jobless People with Work Opportunities

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has introduced a initiative called the Labour Bank to help unemployed residents find jobs. The KMC wants people without jobs in the city to join the Labour Bank.

The purpose of the Labour Bank is to provide a steady supply of workers needed for various projects in the city, such as improving infrastructure, preserving heritage sites, and taking care of the environment. It will also act as a bridge between job-seekers and different sectors like government, non-governmental organizations, and private companies.

The Labour Bank is part of the city’s “Golden Plan,” a strategy outlined in the KMC’s annual plans for the year 2023-24. The city hopes that this initiative will give jobless individuals better access to work opportunities.

By doing so, the plan aims to promote more employment within the city and reduce the number of young people seeking jobs abroad. The KMC is encouraging those interested in working within the city this year to complete a form and submit it to the Employment Service Centre in their area.

People chosen for part-time or daily wage jobs in the current year will be paid based on approved labor rates. Priority will be given to residents of Kathmandu Metropolitan City for these employment opportunities.
