‘Gurkha Warrior’ Film Receives British PM’s Best Wishes

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has extended his heartfelt wishes to the upcoming Nepali movie ‘Gurkha Warrior’. The Prime Minister, despite his busy schedule, took the time to convey his regards to the movie’s producers in a letter.

Addressed to the movie’s creators, Prime Minister Sunak’s letter expressed his pride in the film’s portrayal of the bravery and sacrifices of Gurkha soldiers. The movie is set to have its world premiere at Imax Cineworld in the UK on September 10.

While acknowledging his inability to attend the premiere ceremony due to prior commitments, Prime Minister Sunak emphasized his delight in learning about the film’s depiction of the courageous Gurkha soldiers. He extended his best wishes for the success of both the premiere event and the movie itself.

The initiative to invite the British Prime Minister was undertaken by Milan Chams, the director and producer of ‘Gurkha Warrior’. Chams had dispatched a letter and an invitation to Prime Minister Sunak through the UK’s Minister of Cultural Affairs some time ago. Chams expressed confidence that the film’s global impact would contribute significantly to the growth of the Nepali film industry.

‘Gurkha Warrior’, according to Chams, is based on true stories and offers a narrative of the experiences of Gurkha soldiers who served in combat in the Malaya Jungle in 1949 under the British Army. The movie features a talented cast, including Ritesh Chamling, Bijaya Lama, Rebika Gurung, Kabita (Gaumaya) Ale, and Sara Rai, among others. The film will be presented in multiple languages, including Nepali, English, and Hindi.
