Sri Lanka All Out for 50 Runs in the Asia Cup Final

In a thrilling Asia Cup 2023 final at R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka has set a modest target of 51 runs for India. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first in challenging overcast conditions, Sri Lanka struggled and were eventually bowled out for just 50 runs, marking their second-lowest total ever in the ODI format.

The star of the bowling attack for India was Mohammad Siraj, who took an impressive six wickets for just 21 runs in his seven overs. Hardik Pandya also made a significant contribution, claiming three wickets for a mere three runs, while Jasprit Bumrah took one wicket for 23 runs.

Kusal Mendis was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 17 runs, followed by Dushan Hamantha with 13 runs. Unfortunately, no other Sri Lankan batsman managed to reach double figures, with five of them failing to even open their accounts.

Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka had hoped for some grip and turn on the pitch in the afternoon, but the wicket proved to be a good batting surface. Now, it’s up to Rohit Sharma and the Indian team, who opted to bat first, to put runs on the board and put early pressure on the Sri Lankan batsmen to take control of the game.
