Rishi Panchami Celebrated Nationwide
Today, on the final day of the Hindu women’s festival Teej, Rishi Panchami is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion across India and Nepal. Rishi Panchami, a significant day in the Hindu calendar, holds a special place in the hearts of women as they pay homage to the Saptarishi or seven great sages.
On this auspicious day, Hindu women offer prayers and seek blessings from the Saptarishi, which include Kashyapa, Atri, Bharadwaja, Vishwamitra, Gautama, Jamadagni, and Vashishta. It is believed that by observing Rishi Panchami rituals, women can cleanse themselves of past sins and ensure the well-being of their families.
Devotees from various regions have congregated at sacred temples dedicated to the Saptarishi, such as Teku and Mulpani in Kathmandu, Nepal, and Risheshwor temples across the country. The air is filled with devotion and the sweet fragrance of incense as women participate in rituals, offer prayers, and perform traditional customs to honor the revered sages.
Rishi Panchami is not only a religious observance but also a celebration of womanhood, family, and tradition. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the cultural richness and spiritual diversity found within the Hindu community.
