MoFA section officer dies while undergoing treatment after an accident
A section officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Aastha Subba, died in a motorcycle accident on Thursday afternoon.
A motorcycle bearing number 3-02-008 P 3617 heading from Hanumansthan to Anamnagar Chowk hit Subba as she was crossing the road in front of Singha Durbar East Gate.
Her colleagues at MoFA said the accident occurred when Subba was returning to her apartment in Anamnagar after office hours.
Subba was seriously injured after an accident. She was immediately taken to Kathmandu Model Hospital in Bagbazar for treatment. However, the hospital declared her dead shortly after she was taken there.
Subba joined the MoFA in 2069 BS as an officer. She was working at the United Nations Division at the MoFA. Prior to this, she served as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Nepal in Israel.
She is survived by her husband and an underage son.
The rider, 24-year-old Milan Rana of Damauli, Tanahun, residing in Ghattekulo, suffered injury after his motorcycle overturned after hitting Subba.
He is being treated at the Maharajganj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
