Oli’s Strict Directive: No Panel Formation Allowed in UML Elections

The Chairman of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, issued a stern warning during the party’s first convention of CPN (UML) Bagmati Province Committee today. Speaking at the UML’s Bagmati provincial convention in Kathmandu, Oli cautioned that the party leadership would take action against those found contesting elections by forming a panel.

Oli emphasized that while elections are a vital component of democracy, the beauty of democracy lies in harmony and leadership by consensus. He noted that the party permits individuals to contest elections, but if it is discovered that a panel was formed, candidature might be rejected.

“Let the elections be competitive, encourage healthy competition. However, if it comes to light that a panel was organized, the entire panel’s nominations may face rejection,” he asserted.

Furthermore, Oli stressed the importance of accepting both victory and defeat gracefully. He discouraged the divisive practice of splitting panels into factions, urging party members to compete fairly and accept the outcome.

Oli concluded by emphasizing unity within the party, assuring that those who voted in favor and those who opposed should not face discrimination from the day after the election. He called on all members to uphold this principle.
