Prime Minister Prachanda Highlights Success of China Visit
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of his recent visit to China. Speaking at an event organized by the Nepali Consulate General during his visit to China, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the visit’s success and its significance in strengthening Nepal-China relations.
During his address, Prime Minister Dahal shared his initial apprehension about the visit, especially since he had just returned from the United States. However, he was pleasantly surprised by the positive outcomes of the visit, which exceeded his expectations.
One of the key highlights of the visit was Prime Minister Dahal’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He noted the importance of the meeting, highlighting that President Xi dedicated a substantial amount of time to discuss various matters with the Nepali delegation. Prime Minister Dahal stated, “It is not common for the Chinese President to allocate such a lengthy time to foreign leaders. This demonstrates a rare and significant moment for the Nepali delegation.”
Prime Minister Dahal also expressed optimism regarding the long-term impact of the meeting on Nepal-China relations, considering it a milestone in their diplomatic ties. He anticipated that the visit would yield positive results in the near future.
During his visit, Prime Minister Dahal also had the opportunity to meet with his Chinese counterpart. During this meeting, agreements were reached to reopen border points that had been closed due to earthquake damage and the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision is expected to facilitate trade and enhance the convenience of local communities on both sides of the border. Additionally, several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between the two countries, all of which were seen as beneficial for Nepal.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Dahal also urged Nepal’s Consul General in Lhasa, Nawaraj Dhakal, to carry out his duties effectively and responsibly. The Consul General’s role is crucial in promoting bilateral relations and facilitating cooperation between Nepal and China.
Prime Minister Dahal’s successful visit to China is seen as a positive development in Nepal’s foreign relations, strengthening ties with a key neighbor and fostering cooperation for mutual benefit.
