2025 DV Lottery Now Open for Applications
Today, on October 4, the U.S. Department of State has officially begun accepting online applications for the 2025 Diversity Visa (DV) lottery program. Prospective applicants will have until November 7 to submit their entries through the designated website, https://dvprogram.state.gov/.
Under the DV program, a total of 55,000 green cards will be made available to foreign citizens for the fiscal year 2025. This initiative offers individuals from countries with historically low immigration rates to the United States, such as Nepal, an opportunity to secure a green card.
The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program is administered annually by the Department of State, in accordance with section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). This program aims to diversify the immigrant population in the United States.
For Fiscal Year 2025, up to 55,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be allocated for eligible applicants.
It is important to note that there is no fee associated with registering for the DV program. However, selectees who advance to the interview stage will be required to pay a visa application fee as part of the formal visa application process. A consular officer will assess their qualifications during the interview.
Applicants interested in participating in the DV-2025 program must submit their entries electronically through dvprogram.state.gov. The entry period starts at 12:00 pm (noon) Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4) on October 4, 2023, and ends at 12:00 pm (noon) Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5) on November 7, 2023.
This is a unique opportunity for individuals seeking to move to the United States and become permanent residents. Good luck to all applicants participating in the DV-2025 lottery!
