18 Thai Nationals Killed in Israel-Hamas Conflict: Thai government

In a recent update from the Thai government, the toll of Thai citizens killed in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas militants has risen to 18, up from the previous count of 12. Jakkapong Sangmanee, Thailand’s deputy minister of foreign affairs, confirmed the updated casualty figures on Tuesday and emphasized the government’s efforts to evacuate thousands of Thai citizens caught in the crossfire of the conflict, which erupted on Saturday.
Additionally, a foreign ministry spokeswoman revealed that nine Thai citizens had sustained injuries, while 11 others had been taken hostage as the situation in the region remained tense and unpredictable.
It is reported that approximately 30,000 Thai nationals are currently employed in Israel, primarily in the agriculture sector. Given the escalating violence, Jakkapong Sangmanee disclosed that around 3,000 Thais had submitted requests to be repatriated to Thailand for their safety.
The Thai government is actively coordinating evacuation measures to ensure the safety of its citizens in the conflict-affected areas, as the international community continues to monitor and seek a resolution to the ongoing crisis.
