AP1 TV Refuses to Air Durga Prasai’s Interview; Bhushan Dahal Furious

The upcoming demonstration of the ‘Nation, Nationality, Religion-Culture and Citizen Rescue Campaign,’ set to be inaugurated by medical practitioner Durga Prasai on Thursday, is currently making headlines nationwide.

Amidst this buzz, it has been reported that the interview conducted with Prasai will not be broadcast by Annapurna Media Network Nepal’s television channel – AP1 TV.

Bhushan Dahal, a renowned journalist and the presenter of AP1 TV’s ‘The Bravo Delta Show,’ took to social media platform Twitter to express his anger over the abrupt decision by the management. This move comes as a shock, considering the program was fully prepared and ready for broadcast.

Dahal, who boasts a 35-year-long television journey, highlighted that this is the first instance where the management has halted a program without even reviewing its content. The interview, touted to be the 123rd episode of ‘The Bravo Delta Show,’ delves into the purpose of Prasai’s movement, adding to the intrigue surrounding the controversy.

In response to the unexpected decision, Dahal announced that the interview will be aired at 8 o’clock in the evening through the Sajha Katha YouTube channel, a move seen as a workaround to ensure the public has access to the anticipated content.

The Thursday demonstration is anticipated to be a historic push towards overthrowing the current governance system in Nepal. Notably, the ‘Nation, Nationality, Religion-Culture and Citizen Rescue Campaign,’ led by Prasai, gained momentum with the inauguration by Former King Gyanendra Shah on February 13, 2023, in Kakarvitta of Jhapa. Former crown prince Paras Shah also joined the inaugural campaign. Prasai emphasized that the campaign aims to change the country’s system and announced the formation of a ‘black soot squad’ with the intention of smearing black soot on the heads of banks and financial institutions.

Prasai’s demands include the abolishment of federalism and the declaration of a Vedic Hindu state. The former King inaugurated the grand campaign by lighting a lamp at Mechi Bridge, emphasizing the significance of the movement to establish Nepal as a Hindu state. Prasai believes that the Thursday protest will be a pivotal moment in reshaping the destiny of the nation.
