Banke, Dec 16: In a groundbreaking development, Banke district has witnessed a significant leap towards sustainable energy with the inauguration of two solar power projects in Dhia and Raniapur villages of Khajura Rural Municipality. These projects, backed by the investment of the Golyan Group’s Pure Energy Limited, have successfully generated and connected 20 megawatts of electricity to the national transmission line.
Chandrabhan Yadav, the project manager of the solar initiative, provided insights into the project’s progress. He revealed that the construction of two power generation blocks, namely Block 1 and Block 2, with a total capacity of 20 megawatts, commenced under the patronage of Golyan Group. Block 2, completed in March, has already been connected to the national transmission line, contributing 10 megawatts to the grid.
Yadav elaborated that Block 1, currently producing 10 megawatts, was constructed by a Nepali company associated with the National Transmission Line Limited. The completion of the Raniapur project was a significant milestone, with production overseen by the Nepali company Nexus Engineering Consultancy and Construction Private Limited, operating under Pure Energy.
Remarkably, Yadav highlighted that the construction and power generation for Block 2 were executed by an Indian company, marking the first instance where a Nepali construction company achieved solar power production.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of central representatives from the Nepal Electricity Authority, including Suvrat Aryal and Sitaram Sigdel. Jitendra Shah, the Engineer of Kohalpur Distribution Center, also attended the event.
Praveen Aryal, Chief Executive Officer of Golyan Group, shared future plans for expanding the renewable energy footprint. Aryal revealed that the construction of six solar power projects, collectively aiming to generate 60 megawatts of electricity, is underway in three districts of Lumbini province. The completion of two projects in Banke, contributing 20 megawatts, marks a significant milestone in Golyan Group’s commitment to sustainable energy initiatives.
Aryal further disclosed ongoing efforts in Dang and Kapilvastu districts, where two projects each are under construction to generate an additional 40 megawatts collectively. The Golyan Group’s strides in renewable energy were highlighted in today’s edition of Gorkhapatra daily, reported by Siraj Khan.
