Prime Minister’s Two-Week US and China Visit Incurs Rs 50 Million Expenditure, Sparks Criticism Amid Economic Crisis
In a recent revelation, it has come to light that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s two-week visit to the United States and China, accompanied by a sizable delegation, has incurred an expenditure of approximately Rs 50 million.
According to the Ministry of Finance, a sum of Rs 47.42 million was disbursed to cover travel expenses related to the 78th United Nations General Assembly and the Prime Minister’s delegation during the official visit to China. The finance ministry released this amount in the name of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Prime Minister embarked on his journey to the United States on September 16, where he addressed the General Assembly on September 21. Following this, he proceeded to China on September 22, participating in the opening ceremony of the Asian Games. Subsequently, he visited various Chinese states before returning home.
Criticism has arisen against the Prime Minister for undertaking such an extensive tour, particularly during a time of economic crisis in the country. Critics argue that the significant expenditure on the foreign visit raises questions about the government’s priorities, especially given the pressing economic challenges faced by the nation.
