Leader Thapa Urges Home Minister to Lift Prohibitory Order at Maitighar Mandala

Gagan Kumar Thapa, General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, has called on the government to revoke the prohibitory order currently enforced in and around Maitighar Mandala. Thapa expressed his viewpoint during a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives on Monday.

Thapa emphasized the significance of Maitighar Mandala as a crucial space where the public can voice their concerns to the government. He urged the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs to promptly lift the injunction from Maitighar Mandala, stressing that it serves as a vital platform for citizens to make their voices heard.

“Maitighar Mandala is the very place from where people get their voices heard by the government. That is why the government should not impose injunction in this place,” stated General Secretary Thapa.

Additionally, Thapa raised concerns about an unfortunate incident in which two youths lost their lives in Balkumari, Lalitpur, allegedly due to the negligence of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala. Thapa called for accountability and a thorough investigation into the incident.
