PM Approves Resignation of Chief Political Advisor Gajurel

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has given the nod to the resignation submitted by his chief political advisor, Haribol Gajurel. Gajurel, who also holds the position of deputy general secretary of CPN (Maoist Center), tendered his resignation on December 6, citing a lack of consultation and disregard for his advice by PM Dahal.

The resignation, kept under wraps for a few days, only came to light five days later. Prime Minister Prachanda’s press advisor, Govinda Acharya, confirmed the acceptance of Gajurel’s resignation, ending his 10-month tenure in the position.

Haribol Gajurel stated that his decision to step down was rooted in fundamental policy disagreements with the government’s actions. Despite his pivotal role as chief political advisor, Gajurel expressed frustration at the perceived lack of influence on the decision-making process, prompting his resignation.
