India’s EAM Boosts Diplomatic Ties during Crucial Visit to Nepal

India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, is currently on a two-day visit to Nepal, where he held crucial discussions with the top leaders of various political parties on Thursday.

The visit commenced with Foreign Minister Jaishankar holding discussions with President Ram Chandra Paudel at Sheetal Niwas, followed by an extensive one-hour dialogue with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the Singha Darbar. The discussions aimed at fostering stronger ties and addressing key issues of mutual interest between the two neighboring countries.

One of the highlights of Jaishankar’s visit was the 7th Nepal-India Joint Commission, where leaders delved into matters of strategic importance. Following this, the Indian minister engaged in separate meetings with prominent leaders, including Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli, CPN Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, LSP Chairman Mahantha Thakur, JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav, and others.

In a notable development, Jaishankar met with the main opposition leader and CPN UML Chairman, KP Sharma Oli, at Dwarika’s Hotel in Battisputali. During these discussions, the leaders explored various dimensions of bilateral relations and expressed their commitment to addressing mutual concerns.

In the joint commission meeting held at the Yak and Yeti Hotel, the focus was on key issues that hold strategic importance for both nations. The leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation and collaboration on matters such as trade, security, and regional stability.

Expressing optimism about the future of Nepal-India relations, Minister Jaishankar conveyed his commitment to taking the bilateral relationship to new heights. The visit signifies a concerted effort to strengthen diplomatic ties and foster a more robust partnership between the two South Asian nations.
