Minister Gurung urges to use locally-produced goods
Urban Development Minister Sita Gurung has stressed the need of using domestic products and services for their promotion.
Talking to media persons after visiting the ‘Ninth Nepal Wood International Exhibition’ organised at Bhrikutimandap today, Minister Gurung shared that although the government has adopted a policy of promoting Nepal’s products, it has not been effectively implemented.
“The government has made a policy to use locally-produced products as much as possible. But it has not been effectively implemented. There is no impossible if we want this”, she mentioned.
Minister Gurung further said it was necessary to make arrangement of discount as well as other facility from government in order to promote timber products produced in Nepal and make it competitive.
The Guidelines related to use of domestic products at public bodies-2071, has the provision that the goods used by public bodies should be locally produced. Though the guidelines were introduced, there was a problem in its implementation, she added.
The Urban Development Minister opined that there is a misconception among the general people that the reliability of goods produced in the country is less and foreign goods are of better quality.
The expo organised by media Space Solutions Pvt. Ltd and India’s Futurex Trade Fair and Events Pvt Ltd would run till Sunday.
