Curious About the Details? Learn About the 51-Inch Idol of Lord Ram in Ayodhya’s Temple!
In anticipation of the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22, Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Ram Temple Trust, has revealed captivating details about the idol of Lord Ram that will be installed in the temple.
The idol of Lord Ram, in the form of a five-year-old child known as Ram Lalla, has been meticulously crafted from dark-colored stone and stands at an impressive height of 51 inches. Champat Rai, addressing the media on Saturday, described the idol as “very attractively made.”
According to Rai, the idol will be positioned on the ground floor of the temple, while the idols of Lord Ram’s brothers, Sita, and Hanuman, will find their place on the first floor. However, the installation of these additional idols is expected to take another eight months.
The intricately carved idol of ‘Ram Lalla,’ created by the renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj from Karnataka, is set to be formally installed in the Ram temple on January 22. Despite this, an official announcement regarding the selection of the idol is pending from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust.
Worship of the idol is slated to commence on January 16, with the installation ceremony scheduled for January 18. Rai shared that the dimensions of Lord Shri Ram’s idol and its installation height have been meticulously planned with the guidance of eminent space scientists. The design ensures that every year on Ram Navami, Lord Surya will anoint Shri Ram, with sunrays directly illuminating his forehead at noon.
Rai emphasized the careful selection of the idol, considering factors such as the softness of the face, expression in the eyes, smile, and overall body aesthetics. Notably, he mentioned that the stone used in the idol would not be adversely affected by water or milk.
Moving forward, the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram temple on January 22 will be a momentous occasion, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi presiding over the event. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat will also be in attendance, along with various other dignitaries.
Over 7,000 individuals have been invited to participate in the ceremony by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Chief Minister Adityanath has directed the organization of various programs, including bhajans, recitations of the Ramayana and Ramcharitmanas, and Sundarkand in Ayodhya’s temples starting from January 14.
Furthermore, the Bharatiya Janata Party has announced plans to live-stream the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram temple on a booth level across the country. The Ram temple will officially open its doors to devotees on January 23, marking the culmination of years of anticipation and the realization of a significant cultural and religious landmark.
