Parking Banned in New Road Area
In a significant move to improve traffic management and enhance the pedestrian experience, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has officially initiated a ban on parking along the black-topped roads in the New Road area of Kathmandu, effective immediately.
The newly imposed parking restrictions cover key zones, including Dharma Path, Juddha Statue to Indra Chowk, Kichhapokhari, MahaBoudha, and Bir Hospital. The decision comes on the heels of the successful implementation of a similar parking prohibition order in the Janche area.
To facilitate the transition and provide convenience for visitors to the New Road area, the metropolis has designated a spacious free parking facility at Kathmandu Tower. This facility has a capacity for accommodating 300 four-wheelers and 700 two-wheelers.
In conjunction with the parking restrictions, the KMC is gearing up to launch a specialized sanitation program in the designated area. This initiative reflects the metropolis’ commitment to creating a cleaner and more pedestrian-friendly environment for residents and visitors alike.
This strategic move is part of the KMC’s broader vision to improve overall traffic management in key commercial areas of the city. The metropolis aims to create a seamless and efficient urban landscape that prioritizes the safety and convenience of both pedestrians and commuters.
Residents and businesses in the New Road area are urged to adhere to the parking restrictions, and the KMC emphasizes its commitment to enforcing these measures to achieve the desired improvements in traffic flow and urban aesthetics.
The KMC encourages public cooperation and understanding as it works towards transforming the New Road area into a model of sustainable urban development, setting the stage for further positive changes in the city’s infrastructure and livability.
