Ruling Coalition Secures Victory in Lumbini NA Election
In a closely watched electoral battle in Lumbini, candidates from the ruling coalition emerged victorious in the National Assembly (NA) election held on Thursday. The election, which was keenly contested, witnessed significant wins for both the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-Maoist Center.
Bishnu Kumari Sapkota, representing the women’s cluster and running on the Nepali Congress ticket, secured a decisive victory with 5435 votes, according to the official announcement by the Election Commission. Sapkota’s triumph showcased the party’s strong support in the region.
In the “other” cluster, Jhakku Prasad Subedi of the CPN-Maoist Center emerged as the winner, defeating opponents in a closely contested race. Subedi’s victory adds to the coalition’s success in the National Assembly election.
Election Officer Kul Prasad Pandey provided details of the results, highlighting Sapkota’s lead over Tulsa KC of CPN-UML, who secured 2867 votes in the women’s cluster.
In the “other” cluster, Subedi of Rolpa secured a win against Jhapendra GC of CPN-UML, solidifying the coalition’s position in the region. The Election Commission officially confirmed these results, marking the end of a closely watched electoral process in Lumbini.
